The basics are pretty straight forward, but we urge you to stick with them. It is shocking how many people stray from these guidelines, and the outcome is never happy. The Rules
Always create a short list of boats you are interested in - do NOT buy the first one you see.
Always get full, comprehensive information about each boat you are interested in - library photographs rather than actual pictures of the boat is never welcome - whenever possible, view the actual craft in person.
Always control every aspect of your transaction directly with the vendor. Do not use middlemen, do not use agents.
Always search by yacht type AND location.
Always search last minute offers - Owners regularly post special offers online, so you can be sure of finding some great bargains.
Always factor in the hidden costs of mooring, insurance and maintenance.
